Look around, every local paper and Internet group discount site is advertising super cheap laser hair removal but does that mean that cheaper is better?
Not always. All lasers are different and some places that are advertising laser hair removal are actually using Intense Pulsed Light hair removal and not laser at all.
Some machines will give you 80% hair reduction in 6 treatments and with other lasers it could take you 20 treatments to get the same results. No matter how much money you think you’ll save, you have to factor in the cost of your time if it takes you twice as long to lose the hair.
If your hair is dark and your skin is light, you should get a good reduction in 6-8 treatments if you have been consistent (about every 6 weeks) and if your skin is darker or your hair is light brown or red you could be looking at up to 10 or 12 treatments for the same results.
It’s a good idea to do your research. Is there a doctor at the clinic or spa you are considering? Doctors have access to much stronger lasers than a spa does. That goes for lasers that provide skin treatments as well.
What if the technician burnt you…would there be a doctor there to support you and help with the healing process?
It’s okay to ask how long your technician has been doing the treatment. Find out what kind of machine they are using and get on the net and check it out.
At Anti-Aging, we use the Syneron e-laser. It gives us a reading with each shot that lets us know if we are killing hair and an automatic shut down if the settings are too high for the skin it is treating…it is a very smart machine.
Our technicians have a minimum of 10 years experience each and Dr Frame oversees of all the treatments in this clinic.
You need to be in good hands and this is one of those areas where deal seeking could cost you a lot more than you think.
All Lasers are Not Created EqualOctober 6, 2011
Hair Removal ~ Doncha wish now you’d done it?September 20, 2011
Let’s think about how many times you had to shave at least 50% of your body this summer.
Yes that was you, hunched over in the shower, using way too much water and kicking yourself for not picking up that new package of razors while you scrape that very blunt blade up your legs just one more time, being careful not to slip in the bath tub whilst fighting to get to that body part you can’t see.
Or did you torture yourself with months of hot wax ripping out every follicle your mother said was “there for a reason?â€
Now we’ve replaced those hairs with bumpy ingrowns which might actually be less attractive than the hairs themselves…hard to say really.
Let’s try to avoid this little dance next year shall we by starting on laser hair removal ASAP!
Reducing your hair permanently is best started when your tan has faded and you haven’t waxed for 8 weeks. Shave 2 days before your appointment and then get in here and let us zap ya! A topical numbing cream and our cool, air-blowing zimmer makes this whole thing WAAAY easier.
Our new E-Laser machine is super fast and has the added benefit of radio frequency as well as laser technology to give those little suckers a really good blast!
You may think that laser hair removal is costly but not when you think about how much money you’ve already spent on razors, shaving cream and waxing and will continue to spend. Not to mention the time you’ll save…and hey that’s got to be worth something.
If you have teenage children considering laser hair removal, they will need to keep in mind that until their bodies fully mature, their more rapid hair growth may lead to extra needed treatments but they will still benefit from the reduction. There you have it, fun for the whole family!
So let’s change the course of next summer by getting on it now…seriously, call me.
Summer -A Hairy SituationMay 10, 2011
Summer is on it’s way (so they tell us) and the last thing you want is to put on that new tank top and suddenly remember halfway through your day that you haven’t shaved your armpits since New Years Eve.
Wouldn’t it be worth it to say good bye to those teeny, tiny tree trunks poking through your stockings, or to be able to say “yes” to a spontaneous pool party without fears of gasps and ‘missing link’ jokes?
Of course if you’d had those laser hair removal treatments you were considering, you would never have to worry about that again.
We have been thoroughly enjoying our new Syneron e-laser. It is fast and has the capacity to treat lighter hair with the addition of the RF (Radio Frequency) which also enables us to effectively destroy hair follicles even when we need to turn down the energy for darker skin types.
It’s not too late… call us now, before you get tanned and you’ll still end up with a significant reduction before summer! 604 261-9121
For those of you like the technical ‘yada yada’ here’s how it works:
“Our system first preheats the target using optical energy (laser), which creates a thermal path on which the radio frequency (RF) travels. RF is delivered directly to the hair follicle, which cannot conduct RF. The build-up of current density results in 4x heat coefficient thermal transfer. The hair follicle is terminally disabled and denatured.â€
Vaniqa Facial Hair RemovalAugust 6, 2010
Women – are you still constantly plucking, waxing or shaving that stubborn facial hair? Help has arrived!
We now have a topical prescription cream that slows the growth of light and dark facial hair in women. It’s called Vaniqa. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with laser hair removal. Vaniqa works by blocking the enzyme in the follicle that helps produce hair. The key ingredient is eflornithine. It’s safe and easy to use. Just apply Vaniqa Cream to the areas of the face and neck you are trying to treat and rub in thoroughly.
The treated area should not be washed for 4 hours and reapplying should be at least 8 hours apart. Apply 5 minutes after shaving or other hair removal techniques and cosmetics and sunscreen may be applied once cream has dried.
Studies have shown that Vaniqa significantly enhanced the results of laser hair removal. Vaniqa boosted stubborn chin hair laser efficacy from 40 to 70%.
