What is Soft Lift ™?

Soft Lift is a non-surgical face lift that combines the benefits of Botox and Juvederm to treat the upper, mid, and lower areas of the face, resulting in a softened, refreshed and more youthful appearance. The effect is balanced, subtle, and natural-looking.

Botox softens the wrinkles around the eyes, lifts the brow, minimizes “smoker’s lines” around the mouth, and reduces chin dimpling. Juvederm filler improves volume in the cheeks, chin and lips, reduces nasolabial folds (also called laugh lines or smile lines), defines the lip border, and lifts downturned mouth corners.

Am I a good candidate?

You are a good candidate for Soft Lift treatments if you have facial wrinkles, slack jowls, and common signs of facial aging (wrinkles, deep folds, and lost facial volume).

Soft Lift contraindications

Because Soft Lift combines Botox and Juvederm, you must read and understand the contraindications of each product used in the treatment, which in summary are:

Do not have Juvederm treatments if you have severe allergies with a history of anaphylaxis (extreme allergic reaction), or if you are allergic to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins. Read Juvederm Safety & Side Effects for more information on contraindications and warnings.

Do not have Botox treatments if: you have a hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin preparation (or to any components of Botox); infection at the injection site; are pregnant or may be pregnant; are breast feeding; have a neuromuscular disease (myasthenia gravis and Lambert-Eaton syndrome); have a motor neuron disease; or, use aminoglycosides (a class of antibiotic).  Read Botox product safety (PDF) for a complete description of contraindications and warnings.

Before the treatment

Because dermal filler and neuromodulator (Botox) injections may cause bruising, it is best to book your Soft Lift treatment at least 2 weeks before a social event. You should stop taking aspirin or drinking red wine a few days before a treatment.

What happens during the treatment?

Before the Soft Lift treatment begins, a technician will take photos (used to document progress), and a treatment plan will be devised. To make the treatment more comfortable, a thin layer of numbing ointment may be applied. The ointment will take effect in 10-20 minutes and then your treatment will begin. Before each injection, an ice pack is placed on the injection site. The combination of numbing cream and ice pack make the treatment quite comfortable.

Treatment time: Approximately 45-60 minutes.

After the treatment

Your skin may be pink and slightly swollen in the injection areas, but this will subside in about an hour. Most people can resume their regular routine immediately (except for physical exertion) and the most that is needed to conceal minor post-treatment effects is a powder foundation.

  • Avoid lying down for 4 hours after your treatment.
  • Avoid lying face down for 48 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or activities for 4 hours.
  • Botox results will be seen in 3-7 days.
  • Minor bruising from the filler is usually gone within a few days, but in some cases can last up to 2 weeks.

Recovery time:  No downtime required though in cases where bruising is more noticeable social downtime might be preferred.

How many treatments will I need?

Botox will need re-treatment in about 3 months. The Juvederm filler will last 6-12 months depending on which product the doctor used. Juvederm Voluma, for example, is the thickest of the Juvederm products, can last for more than a year.
