Pigment treatment is planned around skin tone and sun. Light settings are matched to your skin, deeper skin tones are treated with extra care to protect against pigment change, and a recent tan means waiting a little. The cooler months are often the easiest time to start.
Practical planning. If your work is physically demanding or involves constant handwashing, we'll schedule filler at a point in your week that suits you.

Your consultation
At Anti-Aging Medical & Laser Clinic, injectable treatments are performed by our experienced physicians. Your consultation includes an assessment of your concerns, medical and cosmetic history, anatomy and treatment goals. Our cosmetic consultants may assist with your initial assessment and treatment planning, while the treating physician reviews your suitability, confirms the medical treatment plan and performs your injections. BBL pigment treatment is provided by our senior laser technicians, under the medical direction of Dr. Gidon Frame.
We look at your hands in good light, fingers relaxed and then spread, and assess volume, pigment, skin thickness and skin tone. We'll ask about blood thinners, any hand or wrist condition, arthritis, previous treatment, allergies, sun exposure and the work you do with your hands. Any pigmented spot that looks unusual is reviewed medically before pigment treatment.
When more than one concern is being treated, we agree the order and spacing with you.
Cosmetic consultations are complimentary. When you book a treatment, we take a card on file. New clients pay a $150 deposit that goes toward their treatment, and a $150 no-show fee applies if an appointment is missed.

Keeping your result. Filler is gradually broken down and is topped up over time. Treated spots clear, and daily sun protection helps keep new ones from forming.
Where very little soft tissue remains, improvement builds more gradually, often over more than one session. Individual results vary.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery depends on the option chosen and is explained on each technology page. Most people carry on with their day. Remove rings before a filler appointment, since hands can swell for a few days, and keep your hands protected from the sun while they heal.
Caring for your hands at home
A few simple habits make a lasting difference to how your hands look.
- Sunscreen on the hands, reapplied after washing. Every handwash removes it, so keep a tube handy.
- Mind the steering wheel. Hands take a lot of sun through car windows, year after year.
- Moisturize often. Frequent washing and sanitizer strip the skin barrier, and hydrated hand skin looks smoother.
- Wear gloves for washing up, gardening and cleaning.
- Retinoids or other actives can refine texture. Hand skin can be sensitive, so introduce them on our advice.

Questions about Hand Rejuvenation.
Filler makes veins look softer and less obvious by rebuilding the cushioning layer that used to sit over them. The veins stay where they are, and larger or raised veins are softened more than hidden. Your physician will show you what to expect for your hands.
For the most part, yes. After filler, ease off heavy gripping and lifting for a few days while the product settles, and take rings off before you come in, since hands can swell. If your job involves demanding hand use, mention it and we'll time treatment around your week.
The cooler months usually work best for pigment treatment. Hands tan easily through car windows, walks and gardening, and treating them when they're at their palest, and easy to cover afterwards, gives the most even result.
Almost always. Hands are seen side by side, so treating both keeps them matched. The dominant hand often shows a little more sun damage, and your plan accounts for that.
We'll have it looked at first. A pigmented spot that has changed in size, colour, shape or border is reviewed by one of our physicians before any pigment treatment, so you know exactly what it is. Once it's confirmed as a simple sun spot, it can be included in your plan.
