Resurfacing & Tightening
An in-clinic regenerative facial that pairs a microchannel-creating procedure with a topical PDRN (salmon-DNA) formula to aid recovery and skin quality.
PDRN salmon DNA facial (VAMP) in Vancouver
This is not a facial in the spa sense, and the PDRN is not the part doing the heavy lifting.
Here is what actually happens. A procedure — microneedling, RF microneedling or laser — creates microscopic channels through the surface of the skin. While those channels are briefly open, a topical formula built around PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide, a fraction derived from salmon DNA) is applied, so more of it reaches beneath the surface than any cream could manage on intact skin.
PDRN has been studied as a signal that supports the skin's own repair activity. We would rather be straightforward about the evidence than oversell it: most of that research concerns the injectable form, and evidence for topical PDRN is limited and largely mechanism-based.
So we treat this as a supportive step layered onto a procedure that stands on its own merits, not as a treatment in its own right.
One thing to raise before anything else: the product is salmon-derived. A fish allergy rules this out.
Concerns & Goals
Skin that looks less smooth or radiant and feels uneven because of surface irregularity.
Skin that feels dry or tight and looks less smooth, hydrated, or radiant.
Reduced firmness and mild tissue descent related to aging and the decline of collagen and elastin.
Thin, fragile-looking skin with fine crinkled wrinkles and reduced elasticity.
A topical PDRN step is one of several clinically recognised ways to support the skin after a microchannel-creating procedure, and it is not always the appropriate one — the base procedure produces the change and can be performed without it.
The option available here, selected according to clinical findings:
In Canada this is used topically only. Injectable PDRN is not Health Canada authorized and is not offered here.
The selection is a clinical decision, not one you are expected to make. Your skin and goals are examined in person to establish which base procedure is indicated, and your allergy history — fish and seafood in particular — previous reactions to substances placed into the skin, medications, and any preference to avoid animal-derived ingredients are reviewed before this step is recommended or left out.
Have Your Skin and Allergy History Reviewed Before Anything Is Added →
Paired with an appropriate base procedure, this may be considered where the goal is:
A candid framing: because the topical is always applied on top of a procedure, its individual contribution is difficult to separate from what the procedure would have achieved anyway. Choose the base procedure for the result you want, and treat this as an addition to it.
It may suit people already having microneedling, RF microneedling or laser who want to support recovery and skin quality, and who are comfortable with a step whose independent evidence base is modest.
Fish allergy rules it out. The PDRN in this formula is derived from salmon. If you have a fish allergy, this treatment is not appropriate for you, and the base procedure can be performed without it. Please raise this at the start of your consultation rather than on the treatment couch.
It is not appropriate over active infection, open wounds, or an inflammatory flare in the treatment area — anywhere the skin is already compromised.
It is avoided as a precaution in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you avoid animal-derived products for dietary, religious or ethical reasons, you should know this one is salmon-derived. Say so and we will simply leave it out.
Two things are settled at consultation: which base procedure suits your skin, and whether the topical is appropriate to add.
Allergy history is the first conversation. We ask specifically about fish and seafood allergies, past reactions to topical products, and any history of unusual or delayed reactions to substances introduced into the skin.
We also review:
You will get a clear explanation of what the procedure is expected to do, what the topical adds, and where the evidence for it is strong and where it is not. It is entirely reasonable to have the procedure and decline this step.
And the cost of asking: the consultation is complimentary, so working out whether this step is worth adding — or whether your allergy history rules it out — costs you no consultation fee. A booking fee is charged to hold your appointment time, which covers the physician's time and reduces no-shows.
Numbing, then the procedure. The visit follows the shape of whichever base procedure you are having, and that determines the length and the sensation.
The formula goes on straight away. As soon as treatment finishes, the VAMP formula is applied across the treated skin while the microchannels are still open.
What you may feel. Freshly treated skin is sensitive, so a stinging or tingling sensation as the formula goes on is common and settles within minutes.
Usually a series. Sessions are spaced over several weeks, following the schedule of the base procedure rather than a separate one, with maintenance thereafter if you want it.
Who performs it. Treatment is carried out by our experienced technicians, working under the medical direction of Dr. Gidon Frame.
What the combination can improve: the texture, softness, hydration and overall clarity of the skin, and — largely through the base procedure — fine texture, early crepiness and some scarring.
What it cannot do: lift sagging skin, replace lost volume, remove established pigmentation, or erase scars. Nor is it a substitute for the injectable PDRN treatments discussed online, which are not available in Canada.
When change appears: skin often looks fresher and feels more comfortable within days once the initial redness settles. Genuine texture and quality change follows the base procedure's own timeline, over weeks to months, as collagen remodels.
Series and maintenance: planned as a series spaced over several weeks, matching the base procedure, with occasional maintenance afterwards.
What influences the outcome: which base procedure was used and how intensively, the starting condition of your skin, age, sun exposure, smoking, hydration and how consistently you follow aftercare.
One honest caveat about attribution. Because the topical is always applied after a procedure that produces change on its own, neither we nor you can cleanly separate what the PDRN contributed. Anyone claiming otherwise is claiming more than the evidence supports.
Anti-Aging Medical & Laser Clinic
Anti-Aging Medical & Laser Clinic can help you understand this treatment, explore related technologies and concerns, and build a plan around your goals.
Your downtime comes from the procedure, not the topical. Microneedling generally means about a day of flushing; RF microneedling several days of redness, swelling and fine tracking marks; laser resurfacing longer again, scaled to depth.
What helps: a plain, fragrance-free moisturiser, gentle cleansing with lukewarm water, and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen once the skin tolerates it.
What to avoid: makeup and active skincare until you are cleared, saunas, hot yoga, swimming pools, and touching the treated area with unwashed hands while the skin barrier is still recovering.
Watch for a reaction as well as for healing. Normal recovery settles day by day. Redness or swelling that spreads, worsens after the first day or two, itches intensely, or appears as a rash or hives is not normal healing — contact the clinic.
Also call us for increasing pain, pus, blistering, or a cold-sore outbreak.
Most of what you notice comes from the base procedure. Common and temporary effects include:
Because a product is being introduced through openings in the skin barrier, the meaningful risks here are different from those of the device alone:
The risks of the base procedure itself — burns, scarring, pigment change — apply in addition to these, and are covered under whichever base procedure you are having.
Absolute: a known allergy to fish, or to any ingredient in the formula. The base procedure can still go ahead without the topical step.
It may also need to be deferred or ruled out if you have:
This is not a complete screening list. Your allergy history, medications, skin condition and previous reactions are reviewed before treatment, and the base procedure carries its own separate screening.
The most important skincare rule here is about timing, not products.
While the channels are open, whatever you apply can travel further than it normally would. That means nothing goes on the skin in the first period after treatment except what we tell you to use — no actives, no makeup, no new products bought on a whim.
Once the skin has settled, a plain barrier-supporting routine and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen protect the result.
Actives come back on advice. Retinoids and exfoliating acids pause before treatment and restart when we say so.
Buying a PDRN serum for home use is a different proposition entirely, since intact skin limits how much of anything gets through. The reason it is applied in clinic is the timing.

FAQ
Tell us either way, but they are not the same thing. Shellfish allergy (shrimp, crab, lobster) and finned-fish allergy are separate allergies, and many people have one without the other. The direct concern here is fish, because the PDRN is salmon-derived. Since some people are allergic to both, and since the product goes through open channels in the skin, we would rather review your history carefully than make an assumption.
No. In Canada this is used topically only, applied after a procedure that creates microchannels. Injectable PDRN products, including the ones you may have read about from Korea, are not authorized by Health Canada, and we do not offer PDRN by injection under any name.
No. PDRN is a fraction of DNA studied for its signalling activity — it is thought to prompt cell activity rather than to be incorporated into your own genetic material. It does not alter your DNA, and it is not gene therapy.
Predominantly the procedure. Microneedling, RF microneedling and laser produce measurable change on their own, and the topical is applied on top of that. This is why we recommend choosing the base procedure for the outcome you want and treating this as an optional addition, not the other way round.
Normal recovery improves steadily day by day: redness fades, swelling settles, tightness eases. A reaction tends to move the other way — worsening after the first day or two, intense itching, a rash or hives, or swelling spreading past the treated area. Firm lumps appearing weeks later also need to be seen. Contact us for any of these rather than waiting it out.
You can buy topical PDRN products, but intact skin is very effective at keeping large molecules out, so how much actually gets anywhere useful is questionable. The entire rationale for applying it in clinic is the brief window when the channels created by the procedure are still open.
It is avoided as a precaution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is not because harm has been shown, but because these products are not studied in pregnancy and there is no reason to take an unnecessary risk for a cosmetic treatment that can simply wait.
This formula is salmon-derived, so it will not suit you. The straightforward answer is to have the base procedure without it — microneedling, RF microneedling and laser all work perfectly well on their own, and we can discuss other post-procedure options at your consultation.
There is no consultation charge — that visit is complimentary, including the part where we may tell you the evidence does not justify adding this step for you. Reserving the appointment does involve a booking fee, which holds the time, covers the physician's time and helps reduce no-shows.
